allegro was created on family orientation
Allegro is a non-profit art school squarely focused on giving back to our community and bringing the arts to life within Fauquier, Prince William, Culpeper and Rappahannock counties. We are the region's preeminent community art school. We truly have a heart for connecting others to the arts; this is our passion. We want to increase art appreciation and participation within our community, and within our families! Through education, performance, and community partnerships, we develop the “whole artist.”
Allegro was created around the dining room table by co-founders Cyndi & Marc Romero and Lachelle & Sam Yoder while 9 month old Marky slept in his baby carrier. All came with a musical background and 50 years of combined teaching experience.
The school opened August 2004 and grew enormously. By 2013 we moved to Old Town Warrenton and added instruction in all the instruments – piano, voice, guitar, percussion, all band & orchestra instruments, as well as instructors, and choirs and ensembles. We have brought in theatre professionals and visual arts expertise to expand our offerings to include music, theatre, visual arts, and soon media arts. We run classes daily and host performances year-round. We offer classes to early childhood through the aging – art is for everyone!
We have grown and partnered and improved into a solid, reputable local non-profit (we were recognized in 2016 by the Fauquier Chamber of Commerce as Non-Profit of the Year. In 2015 we were a nominee by the Greater Warrenton Chamber of Commerce as their Non-Profit of the Year.) Our heart and passion for the arts within our community remains unchanged. We continue to leverage the arts to change lives for the better and create a safe space for each student to walk through our doors. Today, Allegro is the training ground for some of the Piedmont’s most talented artists. Here at Allegro, actors, singers, instrumentalists, and visual artists are taught to reach their artistic capacity, and how to further evolve as an artist beyond the walls of our music school.
