Warrenton Inklings Society

The Warrenton Inklings Society references the 1930s group of writers from the University of Oxford that included famed authors such as C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Owen Barfield. They valued narrative fiction and encouraged fantasy writing. The group met informally to review and discuss each other's writings.

The program welcomes and invites local authors to present workshops on their writing style and genre, we offer workshops for students and residents who have an interest in writing, a writers’ retreat for anyone seeking a quiet and inspirational place to work on their craft, collaborative sessions to give and receive feedback on work, and finally, a book selection that will carry local author work, inspirational titles and art- and music-related books with a handful of other texts relevant to the mission and core of Allegro.

We welcome both nascent writers and published authors to work in a collaborative space. We hope that bringing creative writers together will bring a renewed energy to everyone who shares the writers’ retreat space!

The Writers' Retreat will be open beginning Feb. 11 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Food and drinks are permitted. The Writers' Retreat is located at 5 Culpeper Street, lower level of Allegro.

Writers looking for feedback on their work are invited to visit the Writers' Retreat, Thursdays from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
