Warrenton Inklings Society
The Warrenton Inklings Society references the 1930s group of writers from the University of Oxford that included famed authors such as C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Owen Barfield. They valued narrative fiction and encouraged fantasy writing. The group met informally to review and discuss each other's writings.
The program welcomes and invites local authors to present workshops on their writing style and genre, we offer workshops for students and residents who have an interest in writing, a writers’ retreat for anyone seeking a quiet and inspirational place to work on their craft, collaborative sessions to give and receive feedback on work, and finally, a limited book selection from local authors.
We welcome both nascent writers and published authors to work in a collaborative space. We hope that bringing creative writers together will bring a renewed energy to everyone who shares the writers’ retreat space!
The Writers' Retreat is located at 39 Culpeper Street.

Two members may read each Thurs. and have their work critiqued. The Third Thurs. of each month is an extended session where an Inklings member will conduct a brief tutorial on a variety of topics such as showing not telling, point of view, genre and more. If time permits, more attendees may read. Be sure to have a piece ready to share!
