About Allegro

Allegro was created on
Family Values

Allegro was created around the dining room table in 2004 by co-founders Cyndi & Marc Romero and Lachelle & Sam Yoder, while 9 month old Marky slept in his baby carrier. All came with a musical background and 50 years of combined teaching experience. Our desire was to create a Performing Arts Center that would nurture our students, honoring who they are, their individual art, and their learning style.

Always a work in progress, just like our students, we have established the only true Performing Arts Center in the local area, as we provide instruction and performance opportunities in Music | Theatre | Dance. We were founded on the value statement "all who enter shall Learn, Laugh, and Be Loved." Today, we are still guided by these values.

As we follow our mission, "Bringing the Arts to Life," we have immersed ourselves in our community, as we develop the whole artist. Our passion is connecting our community to the arts. Some of our students go on to college where they continue their arts training and find themselves in a professional arts career. The majority of our students are involved in the arts for its enrichment in their lives. Our hope is that all who graduate from Allegro will remain lovers of the arts, and patrons, through their entire life, passing on that love to the next generation.

Allegro teachers are passionate about passing their art to their students. They all come at instruction from a holistic space. They understand studying the performing arts is much bigger than weekly lessons. Students are honored and encouraged to grow in confidence and self-esteem. Teachers guard their studios and create safe spaces where students can thrive as they learn. By cherishing each unique student, they guide each individual into their potential. What does this look like practically? Standards and expectation are set high. Correction and instruction are delivered from a place of support and love. We celebrate our students mistakes and successes.

The school opened in August 2004 in Nokesville, Virginia, as a Kindermusik facility. We quickly began adding private instruction in voice, piano, and guitar. In 2006, we were bursting at the seams and moved to Vint Hill Farm Station. In 2013, we made the move to Old Town Warrenton. Today finds us with three studio locations in the heart of Old Town, offering instruction in all the instruments – piano, voice, guitar, percussion, all band & orchestra instruments. We offer an orchestra that challenges three skill levels of players. During the COVID-19 lockdown, we acquired Excell Dance and are continuing its tradition as a warm, supportive studio as we expand offerings to college prep. The Community Players Theatre Company provides a vehicle for all the arts to come together to play! We run classes daily and host performances year-round. We offer classes from early childhood through adults – art is for everyone!

As you explore our website, you will encounter supporting programs, such as the Recording Studio, which gives all our students that competitive edge as they leave Allegro for a bigger world.

We continue to grow and meet the needs of our community. A thriving community follows a thriving arts institute, which is the Allegro Center for the Performing Arts. Over the years Allegro has grown, partnered, and improved into a solid, reputable local non-profit (we were recognized in 2016 by the Fauquier Chamber of Commerce as Non-Profit of the Year. In 2015 we were a nominee by the Greater Warrenton Chamber of Commerce as their Non-Profit of the Year.)  Our heart and passion for the arts within our community remains unchanged. We continue to leverage the arts to change lives for the better and create a safe space for each student to walk through our doors. Today, Allegro is the training ground for some of the Piedmont’s most talented artists. Here at Allegro, actors, singers, musicians, and dancers are taught to reach their artistic capacity, and how to further evolve as an artist beyond the walls of our music school.

All of us at Allegro invite you to explore our offerings. We can't wait to meet you and your family!
